I didn't like this part...
Also, several types of businesses are exempt from having to use the registry, at least for now:
long-distance telephone companies

banks and credit unions

airlines

insurers

political campaigns

charities

companies with which you already have a business relationship. (These can call you for up to 18 months after your last purchase, or three months after you make an inquiry or submit any type of application). But if you ask these callers to stop bothering you, they, too, are required to obey. :thumbs_do :thumbs_do

Thanks for the good info Dice,

if some of you are confused... most of you have NOT signed up for this as this is new. the other post way back by Ray W. is for the State of Cali. This one is the Nat'l list. Not the same.

you can find the Cali list by searching for "tele*" on the board.

Wow, this is very interesting. At New York Life, there is a Do Not Call List too which we must abide by or else it will "Big TRAAA-BLE". But if you had filled something out,

i.e., like at a fair for a raffle, then we have every right to call you and bug you. This is because we have reason to believe that our services and/or products may be of benefit to you.

-or-

those stupid Fitness USA raffles in which everyone is a winner and they keep calling you back to have you enroll even after you told them that your friends filled out your info. and put it in the box for you! rofl: rofl: rofl:

It's just those random COLD CALLS are the ones that can't call you if you are on that Nat'l DO NOT CALL List!

according to KRON 4 news on 4/26, they said that if you had already signed up for the california DO NOT CALL list, it will automatically enroll you into the national one.

but if you want to make sure, you can also sign up for the national one too

eventually yes, but you are just prolonging the time it takes for yourself to get on by weeks or months.... so why do that?

If you previously signed up for a state do-not-call list -- many states instituted them in the decade or so it took to get this national registry -- your number will eventually be added to the federal list, but it may take awhile. There’s nothing to stop you from speeding things along by signing up for the national list as soon as you’re able

remember according to what I skimmed through in the readings, the Nat'l list is effective now right? The state list which we signed up for earlier is NOT in effect YET. So it would not make sense that if you signed up earlier for the State list that you are already on the Nat'l list.

the web registration sucks...i think the server is to busy for the page to actually even load. !!!!! :pissed:

there is no hurry to register... the marketers do not run off the official list at all times. They just get a copy of the list and updated like once a month or something against their own list... so people are just getting too excited and thinking too highly of these lists... :bash:

I didn't read the article (CUZ i'M WORKING), but I saw in our elevator TVs that its shot down or something... so its nullified? The California one should still work since its a different Juris Dick Shun.

Don't be scared ray, just buy one of those telezapper things. This way everyone one and the economy isn't hurt so bad. And eventually the telemarketers will have to personally dial calls themselves.
